need a t-case for a project, thinking samurai is the way to go. would it hold up to 100 hp and 6:1 granny low in a 4000 pound vehicle on 36s?
I heard there is a lot of differences in gears, is there any info on what years had what gears?

All years. Hi-range: 1.409:1; Lo-range: 2.268:1 . All other ratios are aftermarket gears.
Visit the various Suzuki/Samurai specialist vendors to see who sells which gears. Gary Munck at Petroworks has done some analysis and claims his 4.89:1 low-range gearset is the optimum ratio for strength and longevity. It's the only one PW sells.
T-case mounting appears to be the weakest point. This is a very common topic of discussion. Much more information is available by searching.

i see absolutly no problem with that combo, theres people out there that have put v8's in front of a sammy t-case. the only problem your gonna have is if your gonna use the sammy axles, they wont hold up to a 36" tire.

Yep all years are the same really.

Front output shaft got re-designed by Suzuki at some point. Older = weaker. Not sure what year the split was. Find a way to keep the t-case from wriggling around, and it'll live with 100HP on big tires.

I have heard both 90 and 93 for the updated front output. But I haven't had a reason to tear my 91 or 92 tcase apart to see which it is.

You can always upgrade to the bigger front out put shaft.
I have also seen some home brew ideas of how to improve the older version, by simply putting a washer behind the shaft.

while i'm not that heavy, I'm counting on it holding up to about 110 hp with 35s on a approx 3100 lb rig...
