Title: I'm back
Post by: Samurai_Hamster on August 25, 2004, 01:15:40 PM
But for how long?  ;D

To update my saga:

Dealer and Suzuki rep told me to go suck air.  Said nope, cannot do anything and too bad so sad.

Fine.  I'll run 93 hi test for the time being and go from there.

However, I didn't roll over too easily.  I sent a rather pointed letter to ASMC that pretty much calls a spade a spade and I ended it with something along the lines of "good luck in selling 200,000 units by 2007.  At the rate you're going, you'd be better off selling ice to eskimos".

Then I filed an online complaint with the BBB in PA and CA, one against the "do nothing dealer" the other against ASMC itself.  I really don't expect a resolution here however it DOES put a big ole black mark on their records should anyone want to do a search.  Plus, in PA, the dealer WILL get a call from BBB asking for an explanation.  Figured what they hey, they made my ass ache, turnaround is fair play.

Just to set the record straight, until I was told to get lost by ASMC and the dealer, I was as cool as a cucumber.  At no time did I swear or threaten or act like an ass.  Matter of fact, you'd probably say I was too nice.  All I asked for was some effort or at least an attempt.

Now, for the final touche!

I am having a magnetic yellow sign made up that will attach magnetically to the doors.  On it I will have something to the effect "Beware buying a Suzuki from ______ Motors as they don't believe in warranty work".
I got this idea from a guy in KY who had a lemon Dakota and even though the dealer tried to sue him,  he won in court under 1st amendment rights.   I also saw this in my town here on a Ford product.  Not sure what it said, but it was covered in lemons!  touche!

Finally, by chance I was talking with a stranger in my supermarket parking lot and he asked me "How did I like my zuke"?  I said, fine but it knocks badly on 87 octane and the dealer and ASMC said too bad.  He asked me where I got it and I told him.  He said "Hey I know the owner"  I said, really?  We exchanged names, shook hands, and I said when you see him, mention my name.  Mention also the phrase "ex-customer".  See what his reaction is to that.

As David Banner once said in the series "The Incredible Hulk", don't make me angry.  You wouldn't like me when I'm angry. ;)

;D.... THATS WHAT HAS TO BE DONE SOME TIMES. JUST FILE THE COMPLAINTS & LET IT ROLL FROM THERE. I'VE SEEN THE LEMON THING DONE HERE AS WELL. MAYBE JUST MAYBE IT'LL HELP. THERE ISN'T A PUBLIC PLACE TO PARK ACCROSS FROM THE DEALER BY ANY CHANCE IS THERE. ;D
          GOOD LUCK MATTY D. 8)

Very nice to have you back, Hamster. I have a good friend that is a service writer for the local Suzuki dealership here in town that is very knowledgable with these trucks and he's curious about exactly how your truck is running. If you could, can you send me a pm so we can exchange e-mail addresses and I can put you two in touch, and maybe we can get this resolved for you. Just a thought, but maybe the right one.

Does your state have a "Lemon Law"?  Call your state's or county's Attorney Bar Association and ask for a referral to an attorney who handles consumer matters near you.  ;)

Did a followup call today to ASMC and found out that my complaint earlier was never logged! Nice!

SO...........had to repeat the whole saga over again, provide upteen ways to reach me yadda yadda yadda.

Next step, I was told, is to have Ken, area rep contact me to discuss further.  I was asked what resolution would be sufficient and I replied either fix the problem or buy the vehicle back.  Sounds fair to me.  Understandably I got no response from the message taker (but I knew that).

So assuming all this information got logged correctly, I might here from someone.

Darn!

I forgot to ask if the timeframe to hear back was 21st century or next century.  Shame on me.

All this BS can be sloveld by taking the goddamn motor apart and finding the problem...this could have been fixed a mighty long time ago.  :-/

inflames.........you're killing me!  Again!   ;D

Yup, I agree.  Heck, even if they'd throw a new knock sensor on there at least we could say they tried.

Ah well........:)

Hey Hamster,
I'll try not to get off on the wrong foot this time.  What have you done, or tried to get done since you last posted here?  Is the problem bad enough to warrant a buy back, or since they can't(or won't...I don't know) do anything to fix it do you see that as your last resort?  Oh, and save the trouble of the vinyl sign and just use a paint marker on your window.  As much as I don't condone the idea, it may get something done for you if you've got the stones to do it.  It may draw the attention of the sales department who can buy you out of it and get you a new, non knocking one.  Did you try that route already?

P.S.  Please keep in mind that it seems you're beef is more with the dealer than Suzuki.  Lets hope they sell more than 200,000 units cuz we all love our Zuks.  More on the road the better, you know...Evil Seed and all.

The beef should be with Suzuki because they have fail Sam Ham too by saying that they forgot to log his complaint or some jazz like that.  That's not right and everyone knows great service goes a long way.

Does your state have a "Lemon Law"?

Would the dealership or at least the company have to recognize a problem with the vehicle in order for the "lemon law" to be in effect?  I believe you said the dealership could never find anything wrong.

Hampster, I know it was an "out there" idea, but did you ever see my post/email about a possible "hot spot" on the head (maybe from a clogged water passage or something)?  I thought that might have made a cylinder hot enough to knock, but still have acceptable overall water temp.  Just a thought.

BTW, I had a 1990 Dodge Caravan that would occassionally stall when the A/C was on.  I never got an error code.  I changed sensors, ignition components, etc., and could never solve it.  I had it at several car shops and dealerships and no one could find anything wrong.  It even stalled while one Dodge dealership had it on their computer... no error code!  The wife got tired of stalling, so I finally sold it.  The guy who bought it was never able to figure it out either.  I feel your pain.

That's on my "to do" list.  I thought about it too.  Might be some crud up there just enough to make part of the head go hot but not enought to spike the tgauge.  BTW, the scan tool showed 191-194 temp (measuring the ECT sensor) at idle after a 10  minute test drive.  Still there could be some hot spots up there like you said.

WOrth a try anyway, got nothing to lose and its time to dump the old coolant anyway.

The problems with new Suzuki dealers isn't isolated. My grand father had bought a new 2002 XL-7, only 12K on it when the AC unit blew. Suzuki told him that was to just to bad.
Grandfather got mad and traded it on a dodge caravan.  Happy now.
