How do you remove the speaker covers on top of the dash in a 96 Tracker? I need to replace the speakers, and I dont want to break the covers.
-
I'm not 100% certain, but I think you remove the speakers from the under dash side. Deep socket & a nutdriver. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. LMK bc I have a blown speaker up front, & that's on my list of to-do's when the weather gets better.

God I hope not. That doesnt look like fun!!

I know on mine I had to go from the bottem. But is the speaker cover solid? does it look like you cant get it off? if so there is a way....
If not go from under the dash.

screwdriver, just pop them off they are clipped in, then unscrew your speakers angled driver bit because of a lack of room for a regular screwdriver)

Ok, thats what I wanted to hear. It looks like it has covers that are separate from the dash, so I was hoping they would pop off. What sise is that little thing.

A skewdriver will help with the sharp angle ;)

Thanks, You were right. They pop right off. The speaker only had one screw in it, and it was the easy one. Stubby screw driver got it. This forum ROCKS!!

good to hear.... what brand/ size are you putting in?

I just swapped in a set of speakers earlier today. If you want to be lazy and not have to re-do your wiring you can cut/pry off the existing mail tabs on the stock speakers. Then just solder that to your new speakers or just a set of small jumper wires. Then it plugs right into the existing plug. :D
