I've got some yota axles with 35" tires, and 4.88 diff gears, and sami t-case. This should be a perfect combo (rev slightly higher to make up for rotational mass). I was originally going to buy the Rock 4x Fab adapter to make a doubler, but money's starting to get tight. I just got a 2-door with a 2wd 5-speed (I wanted an auto, but... again $$$). It's my understanding the sami t-case can be mated to the 2wd trans somehow? Is this a divorced, or mated setup? Anyone have details they can share?

It will be a divorced setup, you will need the original jack shaft off of the Samurai. It should have the same splines as the Tracker 2wd transmission.

The 2wd tracker 5spd is weak. Id get 2wd 3spd auto, or 4x4 3spd trans minus t-case with trail tough adapter. Even the sammi 5spd trans is better and has a good ratio. Might also want some kind of t-case gears. What year's the trackick...16v or 8..? Oh ya sami trans is also shorter(better d-line angels). ps build what you got?

I'm looking in TT's site, and don't see any trans adaptors ??? http://www.trailtough.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&orderby=product_list&page=shop.browse&category_id=18&Itemid=53 (http://www.trailtough.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&orderby=product_list&page=shop.browse&category_id=18&Itemid=53)
It's a 16V. I have a 16V with a 4-speed auto and everything else that goes with it. I'd much prefer that over a 3-speed auto. With 4.88, 35" tires and the Samurai T-case, it will already be over-revving a few % (to make up for rotational weight), so I don't want to put in any lower t-case gears. Even 4:1 gears would put me into 41.5" tires :o. When I can afford it, I'll get the doubler and have enough low-range.
More and more I'm wondering if I should sell the two 1.6L 16V engines I have and get my hands on a 2.0L with an auto ??? Swap doesn't look too hard (I know, famous last words): http://members.cox.net/aftermarket4x4/current_proj.html (http://members.cox.net/aftermarket4x4/current_proj.html)
