My hardtop on my 04' track mounts with only two bolts on each side up in the front corner. I am thinking maybe there should be a couple more on the back corners.
Thanks,
Raz

mine has 2 clips on the inside on the very back. locks it down pretty good.

Is that on the outside of the truck? That does not look original. That would make it easy to steal. It appears those bolts were added. My hardtop has two plates mounted on the inside at that location and two plates mounted at the inside rear. Those plates then hold the hardtop with large 3 inch round knobs that screw into theaded holes in the hardtop.

I agree with skitime.
It looks like someone added a couple of bolts.
The Removeable Hard Tops that I've had have looked similar to skitime's pictures. Other than that, they kinda fit snug in the channel around the rear and targa bar. Then, once you shut the tailgate, that secures them too.

The previous owner has half a$$ed everything on this tracker so I do not doubt that it is not mounted correctly . Ski, Do you have any brighter pics you could get me and how the knobs are mounted to the hardtop ?
I will need to make me some brackets or buy some used ones.
I didn't think this was right , as it would be difficult to remove the hardtop quickly when you wanted to.
Thanks so Much !

i just bought a used hard top and only have it on with the front screws, the back mounts won't go on cause i've got some terribly rusted bolts that i can't remove cause i need an extension for my drill to try and drill out the bolts and put some new ones in that can hold the block that the back clips to.. i'll take a few pics.. mines an '03.

Sorry I ran out last night to get those pics for you. Here I lightened them up and took 2 more for you. The knobs screw into a captured nut molded into the hardtop.

man... mine just seems way simpler.... just tilt up to slide the front c channel in and drop the back down to the body, then flip up the clips and lock it down...
pro top if anyone is wondering.

Have any mounting pics of the clips ? And how your system mounts ?
Thanks,
Raz

my mistaske mfg: proform products corp model: protop made in 1993
leaves the inside nice and clean looking...
unforunitly im looking for the front section for it right now (mines broken...) :'(

Who made that hard top for your '04? The one for my '99 is from rally Tops. It does only have two attachment points [on the inside where the soft top mounting brackets used to be- bottom, center]. The original plastic trim was removed and replaced w/ weather stripping for a nice seal. It's done everything from washboards to daily commutes, freeway speeds, and some pretty rough wheeling without issue for a few years now. I really only take it off for a good four-wheeling excursion when the weather's perfect.

I just had to look at my original post . I fat fingered the year, it is a 94' not a 04' .
Thanks,

my rear section of top is held down by 4 small locking clips that cinch down the top when locked, when you lock them theres a hook at the end of one side that goes into an eyelet and pulls the top to the body, it works well. if i can get pics while im workin on her today i will. as far as my front section, a ratchet strap holds it down, other wise the front clips allow it to take flight.

This is how mine mounts too. I got the hardtop without the mounts, just went to a local salvage yard and found a set.

We have an old Besttop Hard Top, it uses the screw in ends and the mounts that go in the Soft Top points.

skitime who makes that top of yours???
that's the one i had on my tracker in 1994 and i loved it. I can't seem to find one that attaches like that any where. It's the only reason i didn't buy a rally top...o couldn't stand that i had to drill into the body and then screw and unscrew it every time i took it off.
Where as with the knobs it was much easier.
-
id see the knobs as being more in the way then the system my hardtop uses. with the knobs you have the knob brackets visable when the top is removed. and when i have rear passangers they use the ledge their for an arm rest and i would see the knob brackets being in the way of that.
the top i have just has the clips at the back, sitting just by the seatbelt towers. when the top is off its very clean looking setup and even with the top on it looks great.

Pretty sure it's a Bestop. I believe this is the "factory" top that came with some Trackers from the dealership. I have two 95 Trackers, one with the Bestop with the roof rack (it stores the front section) and one with out the rack. They no longer make them or sell replacement parts (darn it).
