Heres a weird thought for all. I know everyone wants to swap in a 16v but how hard would it be to do it the other way. Im in the middle of purchasing a 4 door kick with a 16v but it has a terrible miss. Say the engine is shot and we want to get it out on the trail soon, i have a spare 8v long block ready to go. Can it be swapped in? Just for awhile untill we get the 16v back in good condition. my thoughts would be an ecm and odds and ends would be needed but it shouldnt be that hard. (Famous last words) Let me know guys!

it is possible, but here is my outlook, everything bolts up, but the computer would be different. if i were doing it i would look for a manifold and weber carb for a sammy. it will bolt up to the 8v head and make it so you dont have to modify the wiring.

The main issue is the different fuel pump (8 vavle uses lower preasure) and completely swapping out the computer.
Locjaw has it pretty much right on with his assesment.
