well ive been searching for about 4 hours and ive been looking to see it it is possible to do the 16v swap without buying the kit including the adapter ive only found one site that has anyone talking about it but the pictures were deleted so im not sure if it is talking about the same thing that i am
-
It is possible, but you need to be able to either fabricate and adapter and do all the wiring or use the kick tranny(2WD) and mate it to the sammy T-case. Honestly for the money the kit is worth it. We did my swap in about 9 hours.
-
well im going to do the wiring myself as that isnt a big deal its the money factor at the moment my 1.3 wont push the 35's very well and the motor is cheaper than gears
okay so the adapter only really adapts the lower 2 wholes correct?
-
Yes, then there is a plate that moves one of the motor mounts. Also you will need a electric fuel pump.
-
well as long as two holes are the same i can make a plate ive got a plasma cutter and welder so that is gonna work great and i got the motor for 300$
-
You can drill and tap new lower holes, I don't have any pics to hand but a few people on Difflock.com have done this.
-
You will also have to drill out the sammy tranny a little. The bolt size on the 16v upper holes is bigger than the tranny hole size.
-
wow alot of people dont run the plate and most say that it works beter without it i dont see what could be better but it can be done very easy
-
I run Brent's kit because it came with the motor I bought. I still would have bought it though. ONly thing I want to change is to get a in tank fuel pump.

I do believe Brent (trail tough) sells the adaptor plate by itself. i think it was pretty cheep!
