Title: Question about samurai soft top
Post by: glamisorbust on April 04, 2009, 07:44:48 AM
Just got my new black soft top from ebay.  Everything mounts up fine, except for the part right behind the pillars behind the driver and passenger.  There are no snaps on the body or the top, it just flaps in the wind right there.  What is supposed to be there to connect the top to the body, or is it just supposed to flap in the wind?  This is my first samurai, I would like to get this figured out.  Any help is very greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance

If you are talking about the part that goes straight down...there is supposed to be a little guide rail that you slide the side of the top into.  That holds it in place, but im not 100% sure if that is what your talking about.  Got any pics?

Amila, I think you are right...

glamisorbust, take a look at the rear edge of the targa bar on both sides. There should be a piece of stamped steel fastened there that runs the vertical length of the targa bar.  Note that the outside edge forms a long groove about the same diameter as the rope sewn into the edge of the top there.  That edge fits into the groove.

Go to Ack's FAQ (the link is in my signature) and do a search for softtop.

There you will find an article on the subject adapted from a Samurai Owner's Manual.

I hope that this helps!
