ok i bought a newer (100k - mine 260k) manual tranny for my 90 track. started pulling mine and preping the other tonight and there is a difference!! guy said it was from a 90!? maybe not a big deal...? the 4x4 detect sensor comes up out in front of the 4x4 shifter on mine. on the other tranny there is another 2 wire sensor lead coming out the side next to the 4x4 semspr lead that comes out the top. and the connection for the second one is black not white like all the others! what gives? help please! :-/ (not shown in my service manual either)
right now i am going back to the garage and pull mine and install a new pilot and throw out bearings, i was planning on putting the other one in tomorrow....... will be back later. thanks all ;)

well i guess no one knew :(
i put the darn thing inyway and it is running great! amazing what a better newer damper makes, i had forgoten. if anyone knows what that other sensor is please let me know. and thanks to the people who checked this post.
changing tranny tips: the 14mm bolts that hold the rear transfer case cross brace, 2 of them are tapered on the ends and fit into the bottom mount for the t-case. and other wise they all look the same!
watch that lil black plastic bushing on the end of the shifter (in the tranny), it can come off, fall over the lip inside and take you over an hour to fish out >:( well it did me..........
mark your drive shafts. ;D

Good to hear you got it in and working. I had the same problem with the shifter bushing :P I had someone put my trans in for me and they told me it was bad because it would not shift into 2 or 4. After a LONG debate with them because Hawk has never sent me a bad part, I drove it to a friends shop and found the problem fished it out and the trans was fine ;D
