Title: welding front differential spider gears
Post by: scooterszuk on April 15, 2009, 01:02:27 PM
Hey fellows and gals,
I have to put a clutch assembly in my 88 tin top, I was thinking about maybe locking the rear together and maybe the front. This sammy is used only in the hunting woods and stays at our club yearly. If I lock the front, could I just leave 1 hub unlocked for driveability, and just lock it when maximum traction is needed, just for mudding only, no rock crawling. Welding them was what I had in mind, or would a mini spool for the rear and leave the front alone be a better choice? When I get stuck it seems if I had 1 more tire pulling it would come out, but I guess thats what everyone thinks, ha ha. It has 215 75 15  BFG at tires on it, do you all think it would break an axle if I locked them all. Don't want to spend money on lockers.

I would go with a spool in the rear and leave the front alone.  You can do a few searches on spooled front ends.  We have had the discussion a few times on here.  :)
