Title: Is ther any reason to leave the A/C pump on
Post by: Black Zuk on April 17, 2009, 11:40:10 AM
I have a 87' 1.3 that has been newly acquired. I look under the hood and there is an a/c pump hooked up? Is there any reason the leave this in? It is odd considering it's a soft top and all.

Does the AC blow cold air?  If not you might want to convert it to on-board air.

my sidekick('89) came with a/c also.
convertible. go figure.
it worked fine, but i have removed most of it.
question: what all is inside the ducting/fan stuff behind the glove box? i've never been in there and am considering pulling that radiator part out if i can without causing big headache like removing dash or......

Well it dose still work.(checked it this weekend) and I think having on board air is a good idea. (also needed this weekend, I had to pack a compressor). so are there parts i need or what, I'm sure it's not just adding fittings.

the radiator thing (AKA the heat exchanger) is pretty easy to pull out. it is in the section between the fan and the heater core. you will need a replacement duct from a non-A/C sidekick to put back in the hole

On my SJ I pack that little read air compressor you can pick up a Napa.  It has worked without fail for years.
