I want to make sure that a Samurai header will fit a Tracker 4x2 (8v).
Also who has the best value on them? I looked at Hawks website, but didn't see them listed.
Summit has 2 in the $155 range.

i have a pacesetter header that was made for a samurai.
it fits on. stock exhaust needs to be modified(cut/weld).
i'm trying 2 1/2" all the way back and no cat. i'll see how that works in 2 weeks when i go fishing.
mine is 4x4 and 1.3L w/carb(89kick).
i bought it new from a private party. cheap.
if i like it i will get a thorley or CA smog legal one, 'cause i need to drive it on the hwy and will need to make it smog ready next year.
any help?

I got a Calmini header. I like it, it works and looks good, moreover, it's adding me some more ponnies by letting my engine exhale freely. If You've started with exhaust system already, then better do it once and proper, meaning, I would stay away from steel headers and go for stainless ones and rebuild the whole exhaust after header as well.

i bought a hedman it was 150.00 new from summit. pianted it inside and out with header paint. drilled and welded in a o2 sensor bung(3.00 from summit). it was for a sammi ,i have a side kick and it worked fine. thanks matt

I use the pacesetter longtube, its works good for me. You should have them coated if using the steel application.

I've always had very good luck with the Calmini headers. They are a much heavier material in everyway than the cheapos you guys are trying to say are great. They have heavy flanges so you won't have gasket issues. They have much heavier guage tubing so you don't have to worry about them cracking. The newer stainless version is probably the best header you can buy, and won't have to do again. The 8V 1.3 and 1.6 have the same mounting pattern on the head.
2 1/2" is way too big for a little 1.3 or 1.6 to breathe properly. It doesn't have enough backpressure for it to build any low end torque. You would be best to have it built with a good free flowing 2" cat, muffler, and tubing to get the best results.

Not sure about the much heavier part. According to my tape my flange is the same thickness 3/8 + mine has the long tube that connects 24" past the block, which you will agree has better function that the short tube application. If im wrong ( I have been in the past ) I would love to compare dyno sheets and see the error of my ways. We did the trial and we found the long-tube variety worked better, maybe it was the air quality!!!!! 8)

Oh, brother. The backpressure thing again. How many more Pa does the 2" you're suggesting give than 2-1/2", anyway?

never understood the backpressure thing.
how can it be a good thing?

High-revving engines with extreme valve-timing overlap. Just exactly like our trucks don't have.
