Hello everyone, I'm new here if you cant tell. I have a 1999 chevy tracker 2.0l and was wondering a few things. the truck was my wife's but now it sits dead in the garage because the timing chain and assy went on it, i was getting ready to buy the camshaft sensor and replace it as the obdII said that was the prob. then i came upon this site and found the real problem. that being said we have already bought the wife a new vue and i am keeping the tracker to rebuild for my enjoyment and hopefully it will last long enough to hand off to my boy when he gets old enough (he's only 11mo now so that proly wont happen ) in the process i have removed the ac unit and was wondering where you can find a a/c eliminator pulley kit or if you have any recommendations, I want to get rid of all unessential junk and just have a loud stereo big tires and a lot of ass going to them. and also i need manual does anyone know what one applies to my vehicle and where to download it? and what other vehicles xref with mine for parts? (like the 99 grand vitara...)

I read another post 'somewhere' on this... it was for a 1st gen trackick but the general consensus was that you'd have to fab one, or alter the power steering bracket to have an adjustment. Ofc, you could just leave the a/c compressor on place, as long as the clutch isn't engaging it wont rob power, just adds weight. You could convert to on board air too!! On the FSM I'd prolly just search ebay to find one... your other choice is prolly a dealership. IMHO don't buy any of the aftermarket books, I won't name em, but they, for the most part, aren't very good.

the upper timing chain issue that seems to be common on these engines, pulled the valve cover and picked gear teeth and chain pieces all out of the top of the head, so i started to get all the pulleys off and removed the rad. & condenser coil so i can get the timing chain cover off. i have all the time in the world to get it fixed as we already have 2 vehicles but like i said i was not finding aftermarket parts very well. i had came across a jeep forum that had suggestions for doing on board air and think i will go that way, but due to my work experience, Im a controls tech and build material handling equipment using electrical hydraulic and pneumatic controls http://www.aura-systems.com/ (http://www.aura-systems.com/) check it out, I think I will have to do something special with it. I was hoping to get some good replies, I do not have much experience with these new engines but I have rebuilt a chevy 350 from the ground up and dropped it in my old 84 v6 camaro so I do know what I am doing.
