Alright guys, the spring lift brings out alot of curiousity. So me being a new media student, and owning a wonderful geo tracker, I decided to go ahead and do it, and take pleanty pics. Also, amke sure you have pleanty of extra time because it may take longer then you think.
Start with one of these:
(http://www.21studios.com/photos/Tracker/2'' Spring Lift/tbefore.jpg)
Here goes, know that I am doing this from memory.
Start by jacking your truck up, and blocking up the appropriot areas. Take all your tires off. (Some don't recomment it but hell I aint scurred)
(http://www.21studios.com/photos/Tracker/2'' Spring Lift/1blocks.jpg)
Then go around and loosen all the cables like brake lines and the such. There is also one by the 3rd member dont forget to loosen it up also.
(http://www.21studios.com/photos/Tracker/2'' Spring Lift/2lines.jpg)
Then We start with the back end because it is easiest. Jack up your axel and unhook the shocks. Then slowly let your rear axel down and then you can pull your springs out. Apply your spacers and place the spring back in.

To be safe I changed my rear shock around to provide more down motion. Not much but enough to make me feel comfortable.
Before:

After:

(There is another washer on top of the bracket to prevent it from ripping out)
Refasten your brake lines and your rear end is done.
The front is a little more tricky and time consuming.
Jack up the front a-arm and remove the strut. (I didn't do the following, but because of all the trouble I had, I figured I would recomment it)Unhook your sway bar, take off your calipers and your hub. Tie your caliper up so you wont risk loosing a brake line. Remove everything so your a arm can swing free, it will be ALOT easier if you do
With a litle gently prying, I was able to get my spring out. (http://www.21studios.com/photos/Tracker/2'' Spring Lift/4front.jpg)
Now you can do the popular strut flip.

I'm posting a pic because I at first didn't understand the concept of the flip. The left is how it looks original, on the right is the finished product. Make sure you use washers to prevent it from ripping out.
Now with your entire front end apart, you wont have any of the problems I did. With the spacer back on me forcing the a arm down and the springs compressed, It took two of use to get that little bastard of a spring back on. With some bitching and moaning we got it though.
I don't have pics of the front end tear down process because I didn't do it although I wish I had.
Picture of the resulting front end alignment problem.

The final product.

What spacer's did ya use?
What're you going to throw on there by way of new tires?
-
Fabricated some 2" steal ones.
I'm going to go with 30" mud terrains, I want to be conservative, so I wont have to do any trimming with 31's and worry about fender rub.
I mean its cool to say I have 31's but I don't want to risk damaging my fenders or popping a tire.
-
How did you get the alignemnt problem fixed?
Did a simple alignment do the trick?
-
Ive got the same problem too much positive camber going to grind the upper bolt hole on the strut on the inside of it to correct this.
Also the rear shocks i would not leave like that ur just asking for trouble. Ur gonna bend the shaft on artickulation.
-
yea i was gona say but u beat me to it lol, either get some new shocks or do some more fabbing :P.. looks good though, thats how im planning on doing my gf's lift, and yes im wondering how u fixed that problem with the front wheels.
-
Good job on the do it yourself lift. Get some tires though man, those are some BALD BOLOGNAS!
-
Camber fix - the easiest bit of the lift - see previous messages " Camber Bolts" - they do exactly what it says on the box, 20 minutes to fit, then down to the alignment shop for spot-on 100% alignment

And where is one to get said Camber bolts? I have a 1.5" spacer lift on mine, and need the camber bolts!

I tried the hogged out strut approach,
I didn't like it, I always felt like it was
going to slip and get all out of wack.
on my strut spacers, I moved the strut
in a little so the wheel is straight, no camber
bolts needed, but I think camber bolts are
the best/easiest solution and would have
done that instead had I known about them

well i just ran into a snag on my lift, same 2" steel spacers and i did the strut flip, is that all u did for the strut or add another spacer?? cuz i cant get it to fit, atall lol.. i duno somethings weird though.. maybe i should build some spacers for the struts? ne one have an opinion for me, im prety stuck lol
-
Flip the strut mounts, That is all I did.
If your struts wont fit, just build an extension using tubing. Bolt it onto your mount then onto your strut. That works, but mines gravy as -is.
-
I built a 3" top of strut spacer, no flip
of the upper strut rubber is needed, in
fact I think if I flipped it I might eat a
CV, as it was I was riding the CV balls
against the retaining wire inside the CV
I got to get that new lift and A-arm built
and eliminate the stupid CV cups, that's
really what is limiting the amount of travel
in the front suspension, you can only go
so far down before it all pops apart, and you
can't go wider or it will pop apart

good stuff, im interesting in the FLIP . Im dieing to get home and look at the spare strut i have to see it in real life.

Carquest carries them $19.75. If they say they don't have a listing for your vehicle in the book ask them if they looked it up in the system. The part # is in the system not the book.
