Hrmmm... my 2003 Tracker's check engine light came on, and it's the same code (P401/EGR) that I used to get about every 50,000km on my 1998 Tracker. Is the 2.0 engine closely enough related to the 1.6 to have that same stupid problem of the EGR passageways clogging up (and the same easy fix thereof)? Or am I likely looking at an altogether different problem?
Thanks,

I was just Having this exact same problem with mine brotherjack...on this thread

Yes good ol egr valve problem.......
MIne unfortunatly was uncleanable while ON (tried everything) ... So I bought another from a junkyard for $40 replaced it and cleaned the old clogged up one while the new used one took its place....Now I have a spare totally cleaned egr valve just incase it happens again on me....
IF not take yours off and clean it as Sir lance told me I should do.....
I just bought a junkyard one.....cleaned my old one....if the junkyard one fails I will switchem again

Oh, yuck -- so it's not just a matter of pulling off the little tube, and rooting around in there with a stick like it used to be? :(
I'm gonna scream at the dealer I bought it from -- I don't think this just happened in the 800km I've put on it (and they already fessed up to changing the O2 sensor's getting the check engine light to go off -- I bet they were getting the 401 code too, and didn't wanna deal with it. Grrrr....)

wow......Samething here...after driving it for about 800-1000kms I got the egr valve code too....2000 chevy tracker 2.0l 4 door......and they only changed 1 o2 sensor??? our vehicles have like 3......
lol moving a stick around in there will not help......it will eventually trigger the CEL again the valve should close on its own...unless of course gunk is in there
mine became difficult at 160000kms......so i just said meh and replaced it so i could clean the old one properly........junkyard egr valve will also come with a warranty too....mine was a 90 day warranty.....

The story I got was, that they changed the front one, and the light still came back on, and so then they changed the rear one.
I'm smelling a rat.
