Title: locking differential
Post by: 92TRACKER on April 21, 2009, 05:37:33 PM
Hello all,

I have a 99tracker 2dr 2wd. I was wondering if it is possible to weld the rear-end to lock it or get a locking differential. I am worthless as a mechanic and would have to get somebody to do the job. I have thought about going to junkyard and getting 4wd for it but I don't have much money to spend at this point.  Any ideas??

Have a $109 spool installed, or a $250 lunch-box locker.  A spool is easier for a average mechanic to install.  Most mechs have never welded a diff.

UGH!  Did I just suggest a lunch-box?  Shoot me, please.

My best advice is to sell it, and shop for a 4wd.
