did it start off working right?
sounds like perhaps the springs failed to line up on final assembly?
i reused my side gears.
i worried |removethispart|@ lining things up and saw those springs as a challenge.

Yes i plan on adding lock right lockers to my 1990 2dr hardtop Tracker.  Trail tough makes a trick FRONT locker, in addition to the rear.  But I don't understand the side gears option that most websites list.  Do all axles have these side gears, and it just gives you an option to replace worn out ones, or what?  How would I tell if they are worn out?

I just installed a lockright yesterday and I will get the axles back in tonight. What kind of locker did you use. If it was a lockright did you put the double springs in the bigger holes and the pins in the smaller holes to in each plate of the locker?  TShaw

no it dident start off working right
that's what i was thinking- and i've only delt w/mine, so ........
as i was assembling, i was very concerned w/scrunching those springs by not lining it up just right.
i think i figured a way of keeping it compressed so it couldn't get out of line 'till it was together.
if you're kit came w/spares, mabe "just" try it again. betcha looking forward to that!
i found the project satisfying but difficult. must be easier the next time.
can't imagine anything else would be damaged?

My locker install ended up with new brakes, a broken bolt in the top of the rear third and the rear A frame bolts seized in the bushings. Thank you Michigan and salt on the roads.  TShaw

dosent seam 2 be slipping in turns at all no clicking sound just tire skuffing churping

isn't that what happens when the rear is locked, and both tires are moving at the same speed??

why would you expect it to slip? or click?

what kind of locker is it?  is it a permanent one, like a spool?  or selectable via air or electric?

Sounds like a Lock Right E-Z locker to me, they make a noticable clicking sound when they disengage, this is normal. If you don't hear anything you have a problem.

Has anone ever used a additive with their locker?  My local auto parts store sell one made by kendall that is recomended to help ease the clicking as it locks and unlocks.  TShaw

Last year I bought a Lockright locker for my 99 tracker.  Which is fine except that I swapped a 98 Sidekick third in for the lower gears (and SOFT removal), so I installed the wrong locker.

So I installed the wrong locker into my differental case.  Was to tight of a fit, so no clicking, occasional screaching.  By the time I could take it out, one of the spacers were busted.

Lockrights sending me a new spacer (love the customer service).

I'm sure you have the right locker, but good to check.
You've checked and tips on acksfaq?

Though this is sort of High Jacking a post, it depends on what you plan to do with your vehicle, Daily Driver = NO, Trail Rig = Yes.

so I've heard.  i plan on using as a DD a lot, so the lock-rights seem a better choice.  ARB is outta my price range.  sounds like the powertrax lock rights are a headache for this guy, I'm planning to do mine rear and front (after replacing auto hubs)

i got the one with cupplers because my has over 200000 miles on it and was abused by all its owners so thats y i got that one cos i figured that the stock side gears would be worn so rather than 2 have order mor parts i got the one wit cupplers aru u soposed 2 use your stock thrust washers with the new locker that comes with cupplers
