I am in need of a wiring diagram, or pinout of the ECM for a 2003 2.7 v6 out of a XL7 automatic. I paticulary need the wiring lead that goes over to the dash & ? I have a full wiring harness for the engine, which covers most of the wiring, but need to convert the last section.

Do you have a pigtail for that 4th plug? If so, I can help you by telling you about wire colors and where they go.

Yes, we managed to get the pig tail. We found a Grand Vit to steal wiring from. Any help would be great. :)

I'm pretty sure '03 had the redesigned dashboard (which is why I went with an '02 XL-7 donor into my '03 Tracker with its old-style dash, hoping to eliminate at least some measure of complication), but I imagine things will match up reasonably closely.

And how did your conversion go? Did you change ALL the wiring, or were you able to cross into your dash and body wiring?

I swapped out every last wire in the truck.

First, let me say again there are many ways and philosophies on how to integrate a engine swap's harness into a vehicle. I use all of the guage and hi power wiring from the original vehicle and 'splice' in the control wires from the new harness. So, what this means for the fuel pump and guage. I would leave the guage wiring undisturbed, it works fine as is. For the fuel pump, I use the original (car) relay and find the control wire coming from the ECM and splice that into the coil of the relay (low power side). On the xl7 ECM it should be the E61-23 and will be White with a Green stripe. To test put a continuity light on pointer on a know 12v source and then clip the ground clamp to this output from the ECM. Apply power and you should get 3 to 5 seconds of light and then it'll shut off. If correct, connect this to the grounding side of the fuel pump relay coil.
There, fuel circuit done!
Main relay is done in a similar fashion. The control wire is E61-9 and is Blue.
E61 refers to the 4th "magic" connector that interfaces the ECM to the real world.

One can brute force it by using the vehicle's relays as discussed before and just ground the low side of both control coils. What happens then is that when the key is turned on the 12v gets applied to the high side of the coil and turns both relays on. This isn't an elegant solution but really insn't a problem. The fuel pump will run anytime the key is in the run position and the main relay will be on too. This is real close in operation to ECM control excluding low oil pressure and brain failure. So, that's another method.

Yes, I got that far in figuring out the wiring. I will send you the conversion list for the E61 PLUG that I have worked out. What i am wondering is do I need fuel tank pressure and temperature (which is on the XL7 and not the tracker) to get it to run properly. Or, do I need to install the XL7 transmitter into the Tracker fuel tank.

You do not need those two sensors in the tank (or fooled) for the engine to run. The ECM will throw an EVAP code but operate as normal other than that. Have you tried starting it yet? You may be amazed at how little is needed for it to run. I'd suggest buttoning up all of the hardware/mechanical items that need to be done and try starting it! :)

I am going out to Walker Valley on Sunday, and then putting it in garage to remove dents and swap out motor. It still does not seem that big of a job. Wiring could fool me, and will have to modify the driveline (or drivelines). I was waiting for the Boot to drop at work, but that may be a while, so will start Tuesday.
I never received the PDF files mentioned earlier, but JGTH on Zuharrie supplied me with these pfd files. Also I got a set of 2003 Grand Vit/XL7 FSM's for $10 ea + shipping. So now with all this support, off to the garage next week.

At first look, it seems like that third diagram will get the rig running. On the drivelines, you shouldn't have to change them, the t-case bolts in the same spot. Of course you may be meaning fine spline vs. course spline rear output?

This is an auto, and about 4" longer, with much larger splines.
here is ECM pinout, I can't make a pdf outof it, but it is readable if you try. I have the pins that will wire over to my old ECM cable (I hope). I do not have fuel guage in there, or ECT (hope to figure those out before done. If you see something I am missing, or could use PLEASE fill me in.
