Title: Suspension Bottom Out Stops

Hi All,
I am a newbie with a question, I am putting 1 3/4" coil spacers in my 90 kick, and was wondering if it matters that the bottom out rubber cones will never hit with the coil spacers in, especially in the rear. I was thinking it might be good to have these cones extended, so I made 1.5" spacers in the rear. I know more flex is a good thing when wheeling, but thought the bottom out cones would make it less likely that the tire will scrape the wheel well. I was hoping to get by on 30 or 31" tires with little or no body lift.

Any thoughts from the experienced suspension tweakers?

Bump stop extensions are a good idea. They will not only not let the tires hit the fender but they will help hold the coil spacer in if you flex out all the way. You did good!!

I would get longer shocks for the rear. get them from a 90 or 91 ford crown vic rear shocks. cant remember which year but there a direct bolt in and 2 in longer.

Extended bumpstops are important. If you let the springs fully compress then they will sag, you may also blow the shocks if you use them as bump stops. Some shocks have rubbers built in but they are too small to absorb any real impact, the standard bumpstops are much larger and pointed so they deform progressively.
