Title: Acceleration hesitation at low rpms help
Post by: zukizuki07 on May 30, 2009, 08:59:02 AM
Ok so the other day my 96 tracker started to "bog" or trip over itself when i give it gas at idle or if i floor it from idle or low rpms..... replaced plugs and wires, distributor looks like brand new, idles fine. next... took out my 02 sensor and it seemed to run a little better.... clogged cat? fuel issue?  the think revs fine once its past like 2200rpms just bogs/ wont rev correctly up to that point. any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked your timing?

I had something similar happen with my 96 too, it ended up being the crankshaft timing gear. The key-way on the crank shaft wallowed out, and the crank bolt came loose. If I would have caught it sooner, it would have been an easy fix.

The timing started wandering around because the loose crank bolt let the timing gear move around on the crank end. So when it started out it would bog down and have no power, until it got higher up into the RPM range.

this is a good possibility considering I just had the head completely apart a few weeks ago thanks for the input!
