Title: A few questions about Jimnys
Post by: littlejimny on May 30, 2009, 10:30:16 AM
Hi all, I am new both to here and to Suzuki's.  I imported a 93 Jimny into Canada from Japan. I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with these vehicles. I am mainly interested in lifts. I have been thinking about putting a 2" add-a-leaf in it for now, was wondering if I need to change to a drop pittman arm or not. I would like to in time install a 5 or 6" lift but am not sure wether I need the kit for a samurai or a 410, is there an easy way to tell?  Thanks for any help or advice you can give me.

Jimny.... Jiimny?

I should know this, but I hate to assume!

But I will, anyway.

Based on the assumption that a Jimny is a basic SJ-413 (what we call a Samurai in North Amreica), then everything that you read about the Samurai describing lifts apply.

The typical suspernsion lift is a Spring Over - also known as a SPOA.  The place to visit in Canada (along with REAL answers about the Jimny) is Breeze Industries.

In order to avoid "Bump Steer", you will either need a drop pittman arm or an Over The Top (OTT) steering system.

Finally, go to my favorite place to find Suzuki 4x4 information  ;) Ack's FAQ - the link is in my signature, below.  Do a search using the words that I have bold-faced in this post to find more info!

I hope that this helps!
