Title: Tranny lube

Is there a specific GL-4 or GL-5 type of 75W90 that I need to use, or can I just use the generic "one type runs em all" department store stuff? I remember reading the Sidekicks use a special GM lube but I'm not 100% sure if my Vitara 4 banger has the same 5 transmission.

Per the service manual, you need to use GL-4 in both the trans and transfer case. SAE 75-85, 75W-90 or 80W-90 (above -20 F.) are all an acceptable viscosity.

I'd suggest RedLine Synthetic. Good stuff.  ;)
