Title: 5yr coolant change.
Post by: 97TRAKIN on June 14, 2009, 09:49:13 AM
Well this month marks 5yrs since I've owned my Tracker new from the lot. I just finished up draining the old coolant and refiling the system with fresh coolant.

I only do that when I swap engines..

Well, on this truck, anyway.

How'd it look?

Well... I'm embarrassed to say I don't flush my radiator system regularly.  I had to replace the radiator in my '91 simply because it was creating too much back pressure and causing over heating.  That was with about 185K miles on it.  Changed the fluid another time with an engine swap too.   I do keep the resevoirs topped off though.  I ought to give this area more attention.  The water pump seals would probably appreciate it too.

It looked good. I'm just trying to prolong the life of the water pump by being proactive on the coolant changes lol. I heard that these pumps are almost bomb proof but hey, why take a chance.

You guys are horrible  :P

I go by the 5 run change. All fluids and grease on the rig, but thats probably just because my runs involve mud/water over the hood the majority of the time, lol.
