I am looking for specs on 1996 OBDII Ignition values and checks.
I have a code 0300 Random misfire, and have done the cap rotor plugs & wires.  The spark at the plug is bright blue with a well defined snap.  I have a tool that will vaguely measure ignition coil KV by lengthening the gap.  My Coil will snap a spark across 25 KV gap but only intermittently across a 30KV gap..
What is the KV spec of a Kick Coil
Can I have a bad ignition pick up giving me an intermittent misfire?  I have only seen them go out once hot, Not intermittent. ÂÂ
What is the exact timing proceedure.  I know that their are two pin locations (Ground & Check) to jump.  But the under hood diagram isn't very clear.  Does anyone have the wire colors?  What is this jumper wire doing?
My first thought was Cap rotor wires, So i bought a new set. Not just Advance or Autozone. I drove the 20 extra miles to BAP Geon and bough the good stuff. I got a Bosch wire set, and OEM cap and rotor. I've never heard of OEM brand. But usually BAP doesn't sell junk.
I'm going to try to verify the Coil KV specs, and re check the timing tomorrow along with installing a new Valve cover gasket.
