What is the better header the pacesetter or the hedman?
Neither! Take a look at the other offerings. There's the Thorley offered by Petroworks and Low Range which is smog legal, Calmini has a very nice header with a port matched exhaust flange, and Hawk offers a header with a ball / cup connection at the collector for leak free performance. All three of these header are better than the two you mentioned for build quality, quietness, and performance.

Thanks for the info but the headers you listed are out of my price range. So the 2 I listed are so which is the better out of the 2 or does it matter on them?

pacesetter is my choice.

A lot of people hate on the pacesetter header, but I'm pretty happy with mine (on my 1.3L). My Samurai on 31" tires, pacesetter, 2" exhaust, & stock gearing keeps up with my stocker (27" tires) on all but the steepest of hills. And, even then they're pretty close in power.

The relation between coffee drinkers to tea drinkers here on this site. ACTUALLY its my dyno results from my 1.3 w/ the pacesetter. It was the best combo between components that we could come up with. We tried several of the leading headers on the market and found satisfactory results w/ the ones we currently use. It was amazing the difference that was made between long and short tube style headers. That being said its a FREE country, use what ya want. 8)

Wow - exciting news. The pacesetter I have came with the Samurai, but people are always "bashing" it. What other headers did you compare the pacesetter to? How much better was it's performance? Do you have the other charts? That would be sweeeeeet.

I do, however I start posting my findings were gonna start WWIII. We have really spent alot of time w/ our 1.3's. I wish I could give away 20 or 30 motors just to change some minds. The chances of that happening in this economy are worse than...well bad. I like the pacesetter first for the power it develops with the long tube, second for the over all cost to performance ratio. There are some people that will only wear "Nike" and some only wear "Converse". Then you have some that will wear whatever as long as its conforms to specifications!

You can give an engine or tow away to certain key people who will do a writeup for you... or let the borrow the engine... or let them borrow a vehicle you provide (even better, since it will have your intended gearing, full exhaust etc) if you're trying to advertise your business. Some of the meet ups are a great place to do this. There was just a Suzuki desert race up in your neck of the woods that could have been good exposure. Just keep your eye out, and introduce yourself / your company. If your stuff is as good as you say, there will be someone that likes your product. There's still a HUGE loyalty to the 1.3L performance engine. People Love the Sumo II on a competing board. I think it's good - I just don't think it's good for the money. If you can beat their pricing / performance I'm sure you can start selling some engines.

I hear ya, were mot as slow as it may seem. I sell on average 4 motors a week, usally 1 or 2 "full dressed". Im new to the samurai crowd (last 2 years) however weve been doing the 1.3 for airplanes for a while. Most all of my customers want to keep the sammy a sammy w/ the 1.3 (no swaps, transplants, etc). There is a huge market weve been tapping of sammy customers. As you know it seems the sammy is getting more and more respect for what it is and its uses.
Where the owner is currently getting burned out from 25+ years in the business im relatively "green" and have a strong desire to take this company to a new level. I love what i do, wouldnt be doing anything else. Thanks for the input, dont hesitate to call if you wanna talk "shop". 8)

1.3L revs easier, and up there in Washington where there's mud, it's going to have an advantage. I'd bet they're super happy in light aircraft.
