Title: Going out west in Sept.
Post by: bentparts on July 20, 2009, 10:12:00 AM
Taking my Tracker out to visit my daughter in New Mexico, then spend some time in Canyonlands Utah. Wanting to go early/mid Sept. Anyone going that way, or west to that area, with a truck and /or trailer that has room for a Tracker and passenger, I'd like to ride as far as possible, from the East coast area, ( I'm in New Jersey, and can meet)  and will share expenses and driving. Thanks.

Well, I got my reservation confirmation from the National Park Service yesterday. I've got two back country campsites reserved on the White Rim Trail, in Canyon Lands National park for Sept 30th , and Oct 1st. The White Rim Trail is about 110 miles end to end, and looks like a great trip. The campsites have room for 2 or 3 vehicles, and since I'm going alone at this point, just wondering if anyone else would like to go along. Safty in #'s and all that. Any of you Utah or western folks like to join me are welcome.

Are planning any other trails besides the White Rim?  I'm interested in hooking up with you but it's a long drive for me and would like to do a couple of other trails while I'm there.

We'll probably hit Moab after the White Rim, to play around there some.

It's supposed to be awesome out there. Here's a thread on pirate about exploration trails - a lot of posts focus on the Utah area: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=676830 (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=676830)

Yeah, it does look awesome. I used to take regular dirt bike trips there back when I lived in Colorado. Looking forward to exploring it in the Tracker now. More comfortable and you can carry a bunch more stuff! It should be cooling off some around the end of Sept and early Oct too. That'll make it that much nicer.
