Zooks are build for high RPMs. I commute 60 miles a day and keep the rpm's up between 3-4000. Try that with a bigger engine (chev) and it will not last, zooks will. Try the 33" skinnies, I love mine.

6.5:1 T-case gears will do you right with 33's.

I'd recommend getting a low-range t-case like mentioned earlier. The Samurai cases have hi-range reduction too so that'll get the motor spinning on road and help. 3500-4000rpm all day long is a happy range for the 1.3 and 1.6. Second thing is I'd swap in a 1.6 engine with the fuel injection if you can swing it. If not, the Samurai intake and exhaust will bolt to the 8-valve and you'll still have a huge hp increase over stock.

Good luck, keep us in the loop.

I'd run the 1.6L 16V or 2.0L w/ the Shogun doubler. But hey - that's me.

My new combo is a fresh 1.6 8V with a hawk stage 1 cam, header and a MS2 with a 44mm carb, 4.16 TC gears, 5.12 R&P and 32" swampers. Had a worn out 1.3 with a weeber before. The new 1.6 has a good power range for DD use and I don't have to wined it as tight as the old engine needed to be. If it was my only rig I would go with the 4.62 R&P gears to have a little more top end on the freeway.
