-
Where did you get that from - is it the engine number prefix, engraved into the block, or it a raised casting in the end of the block?

I don't know what it's from, BUT, I don't think it is of any great significance.
Here's why ...
Let's take a look at the G13B (since you brought it up), what's that out of?
I'll explain futher when I see your reply.

Thats all the info I have, wasnt trying to start a "question of the ages" thread. I had a customer call in and ask what he had, I was trying to help him out. He needs to source a computer so he can swap the motor in to his sammy. That being said I figured somebody here had heard of the L series. Thanks for all the help.

Yeah - I just wanted to see what you'd come up with for the G13B, which by the way I don't see in your list.
Most folks will tell you the G13B is the 1298cc 16v DOHC from the GT/GTi (which your list has as the G13K), but I have one that is a 1298 cc 8v SOHC, which you show as a G13BA.
Now if you examine those blocks (and also that of the G13BB) you'll find, cast into the flywheel end of the block, the actual engine type, which is G13B (yes, that includes those with the G13K prefix) - in short the prefix is of no great significance, it neither defines the engine, nor the vehicle it came out of -
For what it's worth the 2.0 in the Aerio, I believe is a J20A, and you can also get a J18A in the Sidekick Sport.

ok, im pickin up what your putting down. so if I were tryin to source a computer/ harness etc,, just look for a g13b set up??.........FYI my 1.3 from mfi sammy's only has g13B on it nothing else....1298cc etc 8 v sohc

My point is that the prefix does not define the engine by the vehicle it came out of, or even to the point where it is useful.
Incidentally, I wasn't aware that the Samurai's came with MPI - in fact I just took a look at the parts listings and up to '95, which seems to be the last year it was sold in the US, there is no MPI shown, only carburettors and TBI, I was also under the impression that Samurais came with the G13A (cast into the block - not just a prefix), the 1324cc engine.
However for the sake of discussion, let us assume that you have an MPI 8V, SOHC, G13B engined Samurai - should we assume that the same computer that runs my 16v, DOHC G13B, will also run your 8v, SOHC G13B, and where does my other G13B (the 8v, SOHC one) fit, it's never had a computer?
