My 1990 track is acting weird.
I replaced the starter and the new one is doing the same thing.
I had it tested and the starter is fine.
The starter will sometimes just make a clicking noise like it does not want to turn.
The battery voltage is good.
it does not make a click-click-click noise, just a single click.
i think maybe there is a circuit ground loose or something.
Sometimes it works great for a few days, then sometimes it won't engage at all.
Anybody any ideas?

Mine is doing the same. If I hold the key on, then it will finally start. Normally, when the engine is cold, it works everytime, but gets worse if it's hot.
My starter is under warranty, so i was just going to change it out again. My old starter never did this, but this newer one started doing it after I changed the tranny out the last time. Maybe the stud terminals are loose or the wiring that attaches to them.

Sounds like time to carefully check the battery terminals, ground connections, and cable connections. Sometimes the cables corrode inside the insulation where they join the connectors. The terminals are the first thing I check, but since you changed the starter, I assume you cleaned the terminals before you reconnected the battery.

I think I will break out the ammeter and long leads tomorrow and check for high ohms in the wires.
perhaps one got hot and melted or something.
However I went out this morning it was cold and would not turn the starter, good voltage.
Just wondering if anyone ahd something similar and there was some funny switch ro relay somewhere that goes bad.

I pulled my starter apart (well, the solenoid) cleaned it up (lots of corrosion was in there) and re-installed it. No problems ever sense.
