I have a 88.5 samurai with a rebuilt 1.3l engine 32/36 weber. before this I had no issue with the car. for the past couple of weeks I've been having a problem with just normal driving. I am just driving normally and all of a sudden it will start bucking and hesitating, almost die, and even sometimes just die. The issue usually starts after I've driven it for a little (like 15 miles).
It has a new fuel pump, new fuel filter, I checked the gas tank and it was clean, changed the gas out, put in new spark plugs and fixed a vacuum leak.
Today I put new gas in and it started doing it again, and I almost didn't make it home.
So if anyone has any idea what it could be please please let me know.
Thanks
Kai

Have you checked the timing & compression ???

vacuum leak, bad pcv valve, plugged jets in the carb, plugged fuel filter can all cause that, I've had it with my 88.5 and usually it's a vacuum leak or something plugging the primary jet of the carb.
Good luck finding the problem

Sorry to hear your trouble, perhaps there is some loose wires somewhere? Check the coil wires, all the various connectors in the engine bay. By the sounds of it was a sudden event and one loose wire can often be the culprit.

thanks guys for all the suggestions, I was reading on some of the other posts do you guys think it might be the catalytic converter or something called the keyway on the crankshaft pulley? The Samurai does run a little rich.
The Weber is new also and when I fixed the vacuum leak it looked pretty new inside.
Also whats the ideal fuel psi for just daily driving. My friend thinks that the regulator may be giving too much fuel at 3.5 psi.
Thanks again
