What would better be to you? There's never been a side by side "dyno shoot out" of the major header manufacturers so direct comparisons are difficult at best.  I would suggest is that you take a moment and call up the respective dealers of the headers and let them tell you about their product, then decide. There are four different headers choices. Calmini, Thorley, Hawk, and Headman?.

Guys... it's Headman, right? The 4 into 1 header that JC Whitney sells.

Good Luck, Eric

Yep Eric...It's Hedman.  They are also available from Summit racing for $125.95.  They also have the  Thorley |removethispart|@ $179.95...not that I'd been looking 8)

Doesn't Calmini just regurgitate someone else's header with their nameplate on it.  Headman, if I'm not mistaken.  Could be wrong though.

On a side note, I've been told that a Thorley is emissions safe.  But who's puttin' their Zuk on a sniffer.  Not me! ;D

Speakin of regurgitation, :) Have you seen the two headers? Headman's are a 4:1 design while Calmini is Try-Y... Definitely different... Seems to be a lot of questions about headers lately. Here's a quick run down/ pictures of the headers available:

Our install article on the Hawk Header
http://www.zukiworld.com/month_110103/feature_hawkheader.htm Was on the 1.6 8-valve project Tricker Kicker. See picture: (http://www.zukiworld.com/month_110103/images/hawk_header/dsc01329.jpg)

I know that the Calmini and Hawk headers will work on a Sidekick. I don't know for sure about the other three..

Man, I like the way that the Pace Setter header is shaped as far as building my own exhaust for it goes... then again, all the headers go down to about floorboard level, don't they?

I know nothing about the other headers. But I have ran a Calmini Header for many years with no problems with it. I have been very impressed with it (performance and durability)

That's just an Autozone generic air filter clamped on to the stock intake. It actual does not work very well like that. First problem, excess filter oil on the element drips onto header and makes fire! Second, water splashes right up and into this filter stalling the engine.

To do it over, I would extend a hose out to the inner fender well and put the filter into a mostly enclosed box. OR just put a good element in the stock air box.

Those air filters are meant to be oiled just so you know.....As for headers I have the pacesetter on one zook and calmini on the other. I like the calmini much better. And I thought whitney only sold the pacesetter cause thats where I got mine.

I had my filter like that for a while, and on top of the oil dripping on the hot manifold, I had the issue that it got noticably doggy when the engine bay heated up. :-/

Never had a problem with water stalling the engine, though... even when I took on a 3 foot deep mud puddle :)

just becareful with that..only takes one stall to total the engine =) i have seen/read about probably 6 explorers in the pasy year that have detonated the engine in a "puddle" lol i love that "it didnt look that deep" or " it started shallow" lol

I think the tri-design from Calmini is a good choice, as long as you don't have to pass emissions. I think they even say on the site that they are not enviro friendly. I live in Canada, so I'm with Calmini. The Thorely header ( I have been told) is great and enviro safe, so if thats the concern, go with that.

i have the calmini header, i noticed a very good improvment in performance, especially highway driving. i have emissions i have to pass too and i passed with flying colors(well after i did a little tweaking to get me to pass heheheh) my vote goes to calmini

I ordered a Pace Setter after I rebuilt my 1.6 8v cuz a buddy of mine could get them dirt cheap, but it would not work on the 1.6.

Take this into consideration also, a 4 into 2 into 1 (calmini) is a better performance design than a 4 into 1.  Don't believe me, check out some of your local bike shops or sites.  There are a few web sites for motorcycle racing that show the horsepower difference between the two.  It may only be 1-3 hp difference, but when you are talking about 80hp, 1-3hp more is a noticable difference.
