If your using a header just get them tight, not thread stripping tight just nice and snug tight.. After running it for a few days/heat cool down cycles, tighten them back up as they may loosen up a tad bit and your good to go. No need to torque them unless your anal and using a stock exhaust manifold.

A good tip also is to replace the bolts in that head with all studs, this way you don't
chance pulling the threads out of the head with repeated bolt tightening

any good fastening house should be able to find some good studs. You can intall some flange nuts and give you a little more flat surface to the nut. Studs are way better in most situations....headers, lock out hubs, intakes. Make sure to torque the studds when you put them in and them get some good nuts.

We had bolts holding mufflers on the karts...they kept ripping their threads out. I got some studs and torqued them and then installed some good flange nuts. since changing to this about 2 1/2 years ago I might have lost one muffler.
