Title: Torque specifications for 2.0L rod and main bearings
Post by: rickdog on August 01, 2009, 10:53:13 AM
I have a 2001 Chevy Tracker 2.0L grocery-getter that needs to have the engine bearings replaced. What are the torque tightening specifications for the connecting rod bearings, and the main bearings? Anything else I need to know? This has beeen a great car!

Thanks,
Rick

The J20A does not have individual main bearing caps, but an upper and lower block arrangement - torque on the bolts is 60nM (43.5lbft) on the 10mm diameter bolts and 27nM (19.5lbft) on the 8mm diameter bolts - start at the center main and work your way outwards.

Rod bolts are 45nM (33lbft).
