Post by: cmays03 on August 03, 2009, 05:26:12 PM
so has anyone done dual alts on a tracker yet? I'm working on moving mine to the other side of the motor and higher so its out of the mud and water. but i was thinking of running dual alts for the crap i have on the tracker winch elec fans and a few others. plus if one stops working still have one to do the job. so any info let me know. thanks

You could probably build a mount and put it where the air conditioning sits normally.  If you go with a GM one wire you can run it straight back to the battery and bypass splicing it into your stock electrical system.

My .02,
I think I like the idea od "dual storage" (2 batteries) rather than 2 production systems. My concern would be power robbed from engine while running the second unit. I could be way off base, just my .02

around here we run two batt that are kept seperate. One for the zuke/engine and normal lights and the other one for every thing extra. Kill the winch batt and you can still start the zuke. Put a spare alt in a bag and put it in the back or mount it under the hood then you have your spare....one 12 and 13mm wrench is all you need to swap and of course 5 minutes and that includes drining a pepsi.....just my 2 cents.
