Has anyone ever rebuilt a carb from an 88 Samurai. How difficult is it and are there any kits available?
-
Samurai carbs are nasty little things, you would be better off switching to a side draft or EFI.

i would prefer to switch it out for a weber but because i live in ca i don't think it would pass smog so thats where im stuck currently. I've heard that everything with the engine has to be stock in order for it to pass.

Do you live in an annual smog zone? Or an area where its one time only?

im in fresno ca so i think its every two years. I'm considering just getting a weber and keeping the stock one to use whenever i have to smog it.

:)Just purchased a rebuilt carb for my 87 Sammi from Import Carb in Colo. Have the same emmission
problems in AZ have to go thru it every year and had to replace my carb to pass. If needed will get you phone #.

I looked them up online and its alot cheaper than any rebuilt i've found. how has it worked for you? any problems?

I found a rebuilt, slightly modded carb on craigslist a few months back. I'm in CA also, and my sammy wouldnt pass smog. Picked up the carb, still attached to the intake for $150.
Passed smog with ease.
Look around, there are deals out there. The cheapest rebuild I had found before finding this was over $400. As a matter of fact, the guy who sold me this carb also sold me another rebuilt carb for really cheap. Its just sitting in my shop, I had forgotten all about it. Where in CA are you located?
