Title: 1.8L ???

I've been looking but havent found much, do you guys have any idea what performance parts are available for the 1.8L?

Not much - if anything - is available for the 1.8.

It had a short life and was replaced by the 2.0 and later engines.

I understand that, if you did not use 10W30 engine oil, the timing chain system will fail.

Sean DeVinney at afermarket4x4.com is your best source of info on this engine.

Reportedly, the 1.8L and 2.0L are the same "family". I've read about a guy swapping in the 2.0L and claiming the wiring harness / ECU from the 1.8L handled it just fine.

This is something I'm curious about - I'm seeing the 1.8 described as both a J18 and a G18.  The J series and the G series are distinctly different engines, so either there are two 1.8s or there are a lot of confused people.

I wouldn't doubt it. The Swift & Tracker engines are the same but different too. I believe the metro engines had stronger internals, different intake / exhaust (for transverse mount), and dizzy. Same bolt patterns though.
