Got my self a 93 1.6, plan on swapping the engine, transmission and transfer case into my samurai.
Have a couple of questions.
Motor mounts- I was thinking about going with Petroworks full circle mounts, i have heard that a body lift is not necessary for engine to hood clearance. Any input on this product?
Wiring harness- Trail tough does a modified harness for 300, and after looking at the wiring schematics for the samurai and sidekick, its looking like a pretty nice option. I haven't talked to to many people who have tried to adapt the two together, so not sure how it really is.
On the performance side of things, i was looking in to a header. Wasn't sure which one to go with Throley or the Calmini, anyone have first hand experience with either.
Also looking at a cam, but not to sure about it.
Any input would be awesome.
Thanks

I vote Thorley. Nine years and it's still working great.
I am not in a smog zone so I don't worry about it passing inspection.
Asian Automotive of Arizona has a couple of cams. Check them out via Google.

I was leaning towards Thorley also, I have an old Tri-Y on my samurai and its been holding up great. Where i am smog is just a one time thing, so anything will do.
Thanks for the info

x2 on throley. I'm doing a 2.7L install soon (from 4-door 16v), and I've been thinking about the wiring myself. After pulling out a 16V, I don't think the wiring harness is rocket science at all. Basically you're just integrating the wiring / ECU for the engine management, and the rest of your harness is the same (well, after deleting the engine management wiring for the 1.3L - which doesn't look hard either).

Ill have to do a little bit more research on it and see what it involves.
Got another question...
Since i am going to have the kick T-case in there and it will be soild mounted up to the sami T-case. Is it necessary to have a Transmission cross member? Or would i just be better off putting one in?
And for motor mounts, will the Petroworks full circle's do the trick? Im trying to avoid having to cut the hood or body lifting my right to gain more clearance. Does anyone know if these mounts keep the engine low enough?
Thank

Are you sure that your 93' motor is a 16v? I thought that all pre 95' were 1.6 8v motors. Or were they in 4doors.
-
The 16v was in the 4 doors, I think the 4 doors switched in 92 to the 16v engine. Pre-'95 8 valves where for the 2 door models.

What is the difference between the 93 1.6 16V and the 95 1.6 16v?
Will my stock samurai Radiator be able to cool the 1.6? Or will i need to just switch in the sidekick rad?

Your stock radiator will work fine.

Nothing, they are the same. There were a couple of states that might have had a slightly different package for emissions reasons, as there is always a weird model or two out there if you look hard enough. When you jump up to the 96 the block is the same (different intakes) but you get a crank sensor and a different oil pan.

Nice nice, I was wondering why it was different looking than my buddies 95 1.6.
Anyone know anything about supercharging a 1.6? I have seen quite a few SC zuks, just havent been able to get spec on them. What is the charger of choice?

The guy who broke the world altitude record a while back in a Sammy had a Supercharger on the 16 vavle. Not sure what he was running though.
