Title: O2 Sensor help
Post by: Minkis on August 17, 2009, 10:22:46 AM
Hey guys,
I was doing the head gasket on my 94 Tracker 1.6L 8V and i noticed one of the wires broke off in my sensor and can't be fixed. It's going to cost $200 here in Nova Scotia. I've been looking on Ebay and other places online and it looks like I can order one for 1/3 the price. When I was checking it out I had 3 wires on the sensor. All the sensors I can find is 4 wire sensors for the 94 8v. Can you guys tell me if my O2 sensor is 3 wires or if its suppose to be a 4 wire and is actually missing a wire?

Thanks for the help guys,
-Mark

It probably is a 3-wire sensor, you can use a 4-wire if you connect the two ground wires together.

I hope that works. It's not like its running that bad right now, I just know it will run better with a new one.

O2 sensor wires are not important, if you know which ones
do what, on a 3 wire sensor, two are the heater, and one is
the value the computer needs, likely your O2 is just fine, and
the wire that feeds info to the computer is working.
