Post by: gattaca37 on August 23, 2009, 05:49:33 PM
my wife deleted all my truck photos! 1 photo was of a perch bracket that moved the leaf spring mounting point forward 3-4 inches.  who makes them and were r they located?  i have 45" cj spriings and i am making boomerang shackels but i also want to look into the new perch brackets.  (they bolt in to old ones and move positon for leaf spring forward 3-4 inches)  thanks
also, anyone used longer spring and did u use boomerang shackels or new perch brackets?

On mine, I moved the front spring eye "2.5, I used the line on top where it the joins the frame as a reference line. Come 90* off of it through the original hole, then "2.5 forward on your reference line make another 90* line. Measure the same distance off the reference line for the new hole as the original, this moves the spring eye for ward and down a little. I used a pipe spacer and a "1/2 bolt through the original hole, and added a short "1/2 anti rotation bolt up near the frame on each plate in between the new and old holes ( make sure the spring eye will clear it ).
On the boomerang shackles, I moved the rear spring eye hole "2 further down and "1 rearward.

if she really deleted them from the recycle bin and all......well......  you should be able to find an undelete program on the web that will allow your system to retrieve files, it's a long process because it finds all kinds of junk and only half of the pics you want, been there and it was useful...

Your thinking of the CJ/RUF conversion.  I remember seeing it as well, but I'm not sure who, if anyone, sells them as most companies have switched to YJ spring conversion kits.

You can find people who have built similar brackets by doing a search for CJ/RUF conversions on Google, but I haven't found a kit to purchase.  Some nice pictures of the plates you are taking about though.
