Title: Can't get spark :(
Post by: JohnnyWop on August 27, 2009, 11:22:40 PM
Ok, so I need some help. I recently bought a Sami, and after the first day of wheeling it, I realized I had bad piston rings. So rather than fixing it, I put a 1.6 16 valve out of a '98 Tracker.
Well the motor is in now, and I put the new fuel pump and filter in, did all the stuf I think I need to.... but I don't have spark.
I am not new to motors, but I am VERY new to fuel injection. And as a matter of fact, I am so blown away, that I still can't believe the coil is inside the distributor!
Anyway, my question is why dont I have spark, and how do I find the problem? I used the harness and ECU from the same car and it supposedly worked before.
The only thing I know well is carbs, and this swap has me really stuck.
I only connected the parts of the harnes that connect to the engine, ingition switch, and ECU, and will tackle the rest when I get it running... Maybe I need something else hooked up...?
I'm lost and Haynes doesnt give ignition wiring diagrams in there books....

PLEASE HELP!!! I WANNA GO WHEELING AGAIN!!!

Could you be missing an immobiliser or coded key? You need to get the diagnostic connector wired up and try to pull codes.
