Just tried to install a gas tank for a 1987 samurai that I had ordered over the internet. When we dropped the old tank and compared it to the replacement, the new tank only had three tubes on top instead of the four that the original tank has. In addition, the fuel sending float would not fit through the hole on the new tank as it is slightly smaller than the original. When I look at the pictures of spectra fuel tanks on the various sellers web sites, it look like they all only have three tubes on top--did something change? Suggestions please.

what year is your samurai? if you are trying to put a 87 tank on a 90/91/92 or later they are probably different. The tank on my 413K is totally different too.
Do you have the sending unit with the tank you bought? As for the lines as long as you've got the main line, the return line and the vent that is all you need. On some of the newer models there was a caniister, this is probably where the extra lines go.

My Smurai is a 1987JX and I thought I bought a replacement tank for a 1987. It looks like the fuel tank breather line is missing from the new tank. The new one does have a top fuel filler line, a fuel return line and a fuel sending line. It also has the fuel filler line on the side of the tank. I had planned to use the sending unit from the old tank since it works, but as I said, the float won't go through the opening.
