Title: hey everyone i have sum questions
Post by: S.Sidekick on August 29, 2009, 08:41:55 PM
hey guys,

Hey so i have been doin some work to the kicker and have a couple questions.  My Calmini front strut went out and one of my tires got tire hop and is f'd up, i am going to wait till the tire is gone to replace my shocks front/rear but what would u recomend?  my second question is everyone running wheel spacers from 32" tires and above i have heard they will rub on full flex/turn??  and my last question is my front seems to be dipping slightly down, i have a calmini 3" wondering if i can put sum spacers in to composate or might the bad strut be to blame?
thanks for the help

OME's.   Don't understands the second Question. Coils are probably settling in front, common for Calmini. A spacer is a cheap fix.

I also highly recommend the Old Man Emu struts. They are pricey but well worth the cost. The Kicks naturally are nose down a little, but if you want to level it out some spacers will work fine. Just remember that you will get almost double the lift out of a size of spacer.... i.e. a 1" spacer will yield a little under 2" of lift in the front. There are a couple of members here that make/sell poly spacers. You could probably find what you need by posting a WTB in the garage sale area.

I picked up a set of the Bilstein struts, they look like monsters compared to the stock ones.  We haven't had time to install them yet, but if they do as much to improve the ride as installing the Bilstein's in the rear did they will be well worth the money spent.

A spacer will be needed though, but they are very yellow and shiny.  :D

k. i just dont want to over extend my lift so how will i know how much of a spacer i need in the front?  do i measure the clearence from the bottom of my frame in the back then do the same in the front? and what ever that difference is thats how much of a spacer i need?  And i guess from my first post what i meant by my tire question is i thought i was running 30" tires the whole time since they said 30x9.5x15 but when i went to evans creek this weekend, a samurai wit 31" tires looked massive so i measured my tires and they are only 28" tires are all tires like this?

not all tires are the same at all..  my previous interco 31's said actual size was 30.7, my new interco 31's say actual size is 31.5.  looks to be at least 2 inches difference in size from the old to new.  most 30's and 31's measure a little under 31, then when the get worn down can be at least another inch smaller..
