just got a sammi with 47000 miles, it set up for 2 years, changed plugs, rotor, checked distributor location, set timing. no help, it shuts down when it idles below 1400 rpm's, all vacuum hoses are in place. i sprayed wd 40 on hoses did not find a leak. i did compression check all cylinders are 150#. i did do it with a cold motor. When sammi is in nuetral, it will rev up to 5000 rpm's. when i take it on the road, once the motor hits 3000 rpm's, the motor starts sputtering.
??? do you thing the timing belt is a tooth off
??? maybe the carb has trash in one of the jets
??? possible cash for clunker czar put a hex on my sammi
Next step, run the valves for clearance, long shot.
do a carb overhaul, i'd rather smash bricks
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.shalkydoug from SE Tx

OK, I sm using the step by step "clean your carb" with pictures, This guy is the s**t, The pic's really help. I disassembled the carb in 30 minutes. Had to shut down and go to work, Anyway tomrrow AM, step 2, cleaning all the little parts, the small orifices, and a good examination. I think I savecd the gasket. I hope I dont funk up the eccelearator pump, this guy is really high tech. Hope to have it together tomorrow. If it still sputters above 3000 RPM's. Pull timimh belt cover, check the line up marks.
Thanks again Whitfield.

Finally got around to it, when dissabling the carb, I ended up with only one little ball, i got the ink pen spring out and got the ball below it, but the top ball was not in place upon first inspection.
Anyway, I put it back together and it sounded pretty good, still wont idle below 1200. I took it on a road test, now it runs like a scalled dog above 3000 rpms. Appears to be starving for fuel below 3000 rpms. But when you get on the gas , this baby will fly. got it up to 65 mph.
Does a carb rebuild kit come with the ink pen spring and the two little balls?
I know I can get this little beast to come around, really dont want to go to a weber.
Any suggest appreciated.

there used to be a guy in las vegas name suzuki johns who rebuilds them. sells parts.

bought a carb kit from advance auto. cleaned every thing good with carb cleaner. reassembled, no problem. I got lot's of power now, cruise at 60 mph. Not ready to buy the G13 yet. I would like 95 HP.
I still got a problem, now the motor to idle below 2000 rpm's. when it get down to 1800 rpms, it fluttlers a little and just goes kaput. hit the throttle fires right up, I know it sounds like a vacuum leak, can't really find one.
any ideas, maybe all vaccum lines need R & R. I sprayed lubricant around all ends of the vac lines, didn't get any feed back of a leak?

maybe its flooding out and the float needs adjusted. trying to get enough courage to adjust mine.
-
adjusted the float, now i am running good on top end. but will not idle below 2000 rpm's. seems like i am losing vacuum. when i look down her throat and hold throttle wide open the right side butterfly is not opening. it will run 65+. i am changing out all the vacuum lines now.
it sure seems like a gotta a vacuum leak.
still want a 95 hp sammi, but with a complete running motor, half - |removethispart|@$^. hard to shell out the clams, any way good luck

WD40 doesn't really cut it, use propane or carb cleaner... so i hear.
