If you pick one up, might I suggest the Axial Trail Ranger body.
http://www.axialracing.com/ftp/ax4009_trail_ranger_body.html
-
I had heard that was coming about a year ago. Looks better than I expected! Almost looks like a LWB but not quite
-
Yea, I found it when looking for SJ RC crawlers. There was one sight with some real quality work. One guy even did a full interior.
I figure I'll just chop the body up and paint it Safety red, just like my SJ. :D
-
I'm partial to this body style tho
Since I have both sizes and looking for a chassis for them ;D

well there is really so many ways to go with this. But cheapest bare minimum I could find with a quick google search is the following for about 135.00. Now with that said you can easily find some used/free stuff for less and with spending just a bit more can get into some stuff that will give you longer run times. Feel free to chime in guys.. I am not super versed in the RC world and really have very entry level stuff.

I need some advise on RC vehicles. My 5 year old son has a radio shack Jeep RC vehicle. It is fine for his needs as far as ruggedness goes but it only drives the rear wheels and can't go in long grass or dirt. What RC vehicle that costs less than $75 has four wheel drive?

Hey everyone,
Kyosho has just given better pricing on the Rockforce. We are now the same price as the cheapest you can find online and if you are a ZWO member you can get discount on the price and it will actually be cheaper than what you can find online..
just in time for the holidays..
Thanks ,
Hutch

Need some advice on my purchase. The instructions say to use a Size 540 Motor (20-27 Turn). If I remember correctly, the higher number of turns translates into more torque (IE. 27 turn has more torque than a 20 turn). Is his correct?
Also, with my RS4-MT everyone told me to switch controlers and motors to a brushless to get better battery life.... I'm assuming that with the instructions 'no special motors or controlers needed' that this is not the issue with the worm gear set up.. ? If not I can use the controlers on the RS4 for this and get a brushless for the speed car.....
Zig

You are correct in that the more turns on the motor the more torque. It is the same with the timing, the closer to zero you are the more power you will have in forward and reverse and more torque at lower RPM's. They also tend to be better on the batteries.
For the motor the brush less ones are usually a straight bolt in swap but you do need the special speed controller. But if you already have a motor/controller combo you can just use it.
-
I was wondering about battery life.. I love running, jumping and racing my HPI RS4-MT but the battery always dies in 4-5 minutes. I know crawling will make it last longer but this set up does not appear to have an easy sey up to switch out batteries like a racing set up. Would like at least 30 minutes (or more) of crawling between charges.

Not sure about with Crawlers but the best battery life I could squeeze out of the old systems was 10 minutes and that was with really low gearing. But that was over 15 years ago, batteries have come a long way.
You might want to look into the Lithium Ion setups. Expensive but supposedly work great.

Cool, thanks for the info...

Hey everyone,
Kyosho contacted us and has offered us another group buy at $225.00 plus shipping of course.. That is almost 25.00 cheaper than you can buy it anywhere online... If you missed the first group buy here is another chance!
we have them up for sale in the outlet right now.
thanks
Hutch
