Title: Sidekick Oil Leak

I have a 1997 Sidekick. It has a little unit on the bottom front of the Oil Pan. It has electrical wiring to it. It is leaking. What is is called. I tried looking up Oil Sending Unit. It does not look like what I found on the internet. Where can I buy this unit.

Acckording to the '96 Tracker FSM Project (available at Ack's FAQ - see link in signature below) The sensor you have described is the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP).  It sends pulses to the ECU indicating the engine RPM.

The leak is not from the sensor but from the oil pump seal, the front main seal or the oil pan.

Exactly what Ack said.  If you have to replace that front seal you might as well swap out the timing belt at the same time since you have to remove it to replace the seal anyway.

When you swap it out you might want to do yourself a favor and just pull the radiator.  It gives you a lot more room to work with.  :)
