anybody recommend the rocky road 4.5 combo lift for 700plus dollars......... i guess if i just got the 2" body lift for 119 dollars.,, that would start to push it up,,,, but do they come with all the necessary parts and extensions, bushings, ect????
confused as usual ;D ;D ;D ;D

i don't think i know anybody that uses that lift. if i was going to do a 700 dollor lift i would use the calmini 2in and mod it a little and homemade a 3in body lift. i think i could do that for under 700 dollors.

i would go for the calmini 2" lift, and a body lift from rro. that should get you into 31" tires.

All depends. If you just want a little lift, the body lift isn't bad.
If you're gonna spend the big bucks, I would probably go with the Calmini kit simply because the replacement a-arm will avoid camber problems.
Maybe its just me, but I would save myself the trouble of building a body lift kit and just buy the one from RRO.

$120 for 6 2x2" chunks of square tubes and 2 plastic cylenders seems insanely expensive to me... :-/

I've read so many posts about how to copy lift blocks or coil spacers or such; guys asking whats the inside diameter, whats the outside diameter, whats it made of, is this a good substitute. So much trouble to go through for a $100 part. It may be a lot of money for 6 2"x2" chunks of steel, but the question was about whether the RRO product was worth the money, not advice on how to build a lift kit in the shop.
Sometimes its better for a beginner (like me) to learn by installing and fixing rather than trying to re-engineer a product already on the shelf.

NOT ALL OF US ARE CAPABLE , OR HAVE THE RESOURCES TO BUILD OUR OWN MODS. :-[
AND IF ITS SOMETHING THATS HOLDING MY A$$ TO THE FRAME I'D RATHER TAKE THE TRIED & TRUE WAY. BUT HEY THATS JUST ME ;D
I LOVE THE CALMINI 6" COMBO SET UP MY SELF :P
THE KIT IS PRETTY DARN CLOSE TO BEING TRUELY BOLT ON. WILL LIKELY NEED SOME NEW BOLTS DEPENDING ON HOW THE OLD ONES COME OUT. YOU MAY NEED TO EXTEND YOUR STEERING SHAFT BUT I TOOK IT TO A WELDER SHOP & IT WAS A SNAP.

I've done most of the stuff on my Kick since 94 and I still would rather spend more money and get something that others have designed to work instead of spending the extra time trying to make something work.
I have not used that Kit but Gleen was on a trail ride with me at the Melt 2 years ago in his X-90. He was running that kit and it did perform well. The only bad part was, he had a rear coil fall out when he got twisted up in a mud hole. Has any one else that runs this kit had that problem?

Try a search for Rocky Road and change the time frame back to 500 days and see what all pops up. I know there was a discussion on this lift sometime in the past.

I would like to run Calmini front a arms and OLD MAN EMNU springs and struts/shocks all around. I heard they improve the ride quality.
Everyone says the calmini lifts ride a bit stiff. Just going on what I heard.

There 2" rides great with the supplied springs. The 3" will be rough without the added weight of roll cage, bumpers, winch, etc...

Thats what I plan to do when I get my Calmini 3-inch suspension kit. However, the rear Calmini shocks included in the kit are longer than the rear OME shocks so if I decide to use the rear OME shocks together with the rear Calmini trailing arms and coils, my OME shocks might bottom out.
