Hi, I am going to buy a set of 31/10.5/15 tires for my 95 Geo Tracker, and i was wondering if i could fit those on stock wheels? thanks!
-
yes, i have run that size many of times on our trackers, kicks on sock rims

A 10.5" tyre is too wide for a stock (5.5") rim. They will fit but they may not be legal to run where you live, there may also be problems with your insurance if you have an accident with them fitted.

Insurance?....... wait wait wait.......does anyone do full coverage? LOL just sayin.......

A 10.5" wide tire will rub on the frame in the rear on any tread other than a mild street tire. You can go 9.5" wide fine with AT's (that what I run) but much more and you will be against the frame on the rear. Also something else to keep in mind, wider=more rolling resistance. The bigger the footprint the bigger the hit to your MPG.

hit in the frame in the rear eh? ??? that's new to me
a 10.5 tire on a stock rim will hit (depending on what lift you have) the inner lip on the rear fender, when you flex out the susp, but that's about it.
and yes MPG will go down, but i bet you wont see a difference between a 9.5 and a 10.5 in that regard

Well if a picture of my 9.5"s and how close they are to the frame would help your imagination I can climb under there with a camera for ya. ;)
-
ya do that please , just so i can see, i have used 10.5 muds on stock rims lots of times and its always been ok, im wondering why yours is so close, or why mine have always been so far away lol

Dang, since you asked nice I guess I am gonna have to. As soon as it stops raining here, I don't have a garage.

I have run 31x10.50 on stock 15x5.5 rims and they rub on the frame when you turn real tight, and they rub on the inside fender liner when you flex the rear end right out.
-
Okay, so first I miss spoke in regards to where it hits. I ment to say the fender liner, also I took a bath for these pics since there was much water on the roof that all came down on me when I leaned on the body. :P
The gap you can see there I can fit one of my fingers in and thats it, I could have gotten 10's under there but any real articulation and I would rub for sure so I went with 9.5's and I'm happy.
-
funny, looks like alot bigger gap than that.........sorry u had to get wet to take the pic's lol

Fisrt of all thanks for your info! And second I have looked into it further im buying a set of 30/9.50/15 BFG All terrains, and I was looking at wheel spacers! Any suggestions???
-
You won't need the spacers for 9.5's so you can save your money there. Also be aware that any larger then 30" and your rear tire rack will not fit. That was why I stopped at 30 instead of 31's" which is what I really wanted.
-
Cant you just put a spacer on the back....?
-
It would still hit the rear bumper unless you really kicked it out there. In reality you need to have an adapter that will lift it up a couple of inches as well. Then you get to worry about ripping the rear tire mount off of the body. :D
If your looking for a full size spare with 31's you might want to look at a new rear bumper at the same time. Then just get a tire carrier built onto it.

zor ftw for 4D sidekick

I am running 30/9.50/15's, and had to modify the edge of the floor pan. (A large hammer works fine.) I needed to bend over the lip where the firewall and floor pan join.
