yes i removed mine for better reliability in deep water but i did switch to a Weber carb i don't think you can do it with the stock carb.

I'd say yes also - but only because I know someone who has done it (with the original carb), but I have no idea what was involved in making it work.

You can if you do not use the stock carb.

you need the computor to run all the electronics on the carb. If you get an 85 carb then you get away from all the wires...still have tons of vacuums but will work better.

The little computor/box is behind the speaker in the passenger side. It controls the fuel mix. you can put a weber, pony carb, even a harley carb.

the ecu runs the idle circut, if you run it rich enough it well run but the mileage well be horrible. I plan on going to a Weber to get away from the electronics.

Is it just the computer that is missing or are all the plugs jacked up?  I just did a 1.6L 16v swap in my 87 Sami so I got a brain box sitting around, if ya need one.  Where ya located?

The stock carb is worthless without the ECU and all the associated sensors that run it. It will just run real rich and foul your plugs, less power and plug your cat. If your state allows it, get a Myside from ZOR
