So I've made up my mind and am going to commit to the SAS of the 4 door track. Ifs seems nice and all but my bang for the buck will be in SAS.
I've been looking for a Toyota SFA but no luck here in the PNW. 350 -550 is the average for either stock or missing parts.
*sigh*
I needed to know if anyone has used Dana 44's? I cant imagine a 1.6 snapping a 30 spline 44 but ya never know....
Let me know your input. Thanks guys. ALSO!
On flat top knuckles....does anyone know of any after market knuckles you can just put in a 44? I also hear some fords came with Spring Perches? Can anyone Clarify?

If you want to go with Dana 44's I would look for a Scout II, they already have the passenger side drop. Heck, I even know where one is outside of Sedro-Wolley. One of the issues you will run into the the D44 swap is most of the front 44 axles came out of full size vehicles so you are going to have to get an axle, cut it down and get some customer length shafts.
Unless your going to full width expect to pay close the same as the Toy axles, only twice as heavy.

The cost of cutting down a Dana 44 sound expensive ??? For that reason alone the Yota axle is a choice most make. Tool kit much cleaner with all metric instead of SAE mix. I would hold out for a set of Yotas.

On Another note:
1) How much heavier is a D 44 vs FJ 40 or 80 axles.....
2) D44's have a 600 E locker (this is a daily driver) Having this is almost a must... I do not want a full lock all the time F&R
3) I figure either way the fenders will need to be massaged/cut/retubed for a small exo cage/fender flare (not sure yet)
So many pro's and cons of a D44 vs toyo axles. Im yet to find the weight of a D44 vs a yota axle. Ill have to check into that.
Id love to keep the coil setup but again leafs would make it a lot easier. I just dont know yet..... Things to come.
Thanks for any and all input.

Ask Eric Bewley. I think his Kick SAS ran D44s.

Hey....
My front axle is a Calmini hybrid custom build by them. If I remember correctly it has a Suzuki 7.5" center w/ARB 27 spline Superior Axles w/D44 knuckles, D30 Spindles, Sidekick 4-door brakes.
Toyota vs. D44 is a good question and both axle sets can be argued for and against and probably the persons's situation and planned usage would be more important in the decision because the axle sets are pretty close in performance and price in my opinion.
