Title: 97 obd2 1.6 16V swap into a 94 obd1 sidekick

im looking to see if its possible to swap a 1.6 16v from a 97 into my 94 4 door 16v ..  i know mine is a obd1 and the 97 is obd2..  i have access to the complete harness and computer from the 97 but my main concern is still being able to use my 94' s 4 speed auto trans...  any info on this would help! thanks

You will need to swap your intake over, oil pan, oil pump and the lower timing belt gear.  Depending on your configuration you migh also need to swap the heater tubing bit that comes out of the back of the water pump.  So you will probably want to make sure you have an o-ring for that as well.

Other then those items it should bolt right up.

I don't know why you would have to swap the oil pan and pump. The 97 engine has a crankshaft sensor which is not needed on the 94 but it could be left unplugged. Use your existinmg wiring and ECU with all your existing sensors and you won't have a problem with wiring.
